Frequently Asked Questions...
Cast Iron pans - cleaning the enamel ?
I have some cast iron enameled pans (La Creuset and others). Any suggestions on getting stains out of the enamel? I heard that there is an enamel cleaner, but I don't know what it is.
What do you use? Does it work well?
(BTW, they enamels are white and pale cream colored.)
Answer:
I would first boil some water in the pots to get them hot, empty the water and soak the pans in the hot water, and gradually rub the stains off with a brillo pad along with some non abrasive cleaning powder. It will be a lot of work but certainly worth the effort.
Every time I use my pans I was the outside and bottom really well so stains do not build up.
