How do you finish marble surface as a kitchen island?
I have several pieces of marble as used were a bank teller counter, and now I wanted to use it as a top surface of a cooking island food used to be, that would prepare and as food. The marble is polished and not porous. I do not know if it is cultured marble, and I do not know, as you say. It is about 50 years old. If this is a safe surface for food preparation are used? If it is 50 years old and in a bank, it probably is not art marble. In fact, it can be granite. In any case, I do not see why it can not be used as you wish. Probably would I have him a good scrubbing and a healthy application of diluted bleach on the safe side. If there is a local distributor of natural stone countertops, you might want vist them and look at samples of granite and marble so you can see the difference. With marble, you probably need to be sealed to the surface to hold, but is it made of granite, that's really not a problem. Granite is much harder than marble and densi and very difficult to reason with care damage.
