Can you do any canning on a flat top stove?
We're wanting to get my mother-in-law a new stove, but she said she didn't want to have a flat top stove because she heard that she wouldn't be able to can anything on it. We're not too sure about it, and none of us see why you wouldn't be able to. Does anyone know for sure?
Answer:
Well, it is harder to easily manipulate/regulate the temperature/heat of the element which CAN make for more snotty conditions when canning.
If she has said to you that she does not want the flat top, you should try to honor that even if the reasons sound odd or even untrue. You may be able to dissuade someone from thinking something and then do as YOU please, but they will not be happy.
I am guessing you want her happy. best to try to get her what she wants. Good of you to ask her about it though. And very thoughtful to get her a new stove. Check on EBay of a good/ long time seller for one. They deliver to your house, are new and are way cheaper. Check it out. I bought all of my appliances except the fridge online. Saved a ton.
