How much does a stainless steel flue cost?
We recently had a flue fire and our flue liner cracked. It did no damage to our house, thankfully! The gentleman from the Chimney service recommended a stainless steel flue liner. It is really expensive, but he said it was the best way to go. Our deductible is $2500.00 for our homeowners, why we made it so high is our mistake. But the Stainless liner still cost more than that. Has anyone ever had experience with this. The quote was about $4000.00 does that seem high?

Feel free to look this up. I pay, on average, $35.00 per (6"x12") section of replacement (stainless steel) flu liner. The average retail price is around $43.00. I am a contractor in this field. The quote you have been given is a little high, but not out of the norm. Get a few more quotes first, then ask him to knock it down a bit. Stainless steel is the best alternative there is.
