How do I flat iron my Black, but softer than other African-American hair?
I permed my hair a couple of years ago, but i went natural after the first few. Now my hair is natural and goes below my shoulders when i pull it, but it's still nappy-like, even though it's soft. I want to know how to straighten it without a perm and without damaging the ends. I have it flat-ironed now, and the roots stay straight, while the ends stay half puffy. How do i flat-iron my hair so that ALL of it stays straight?
Also, when i fnish flat-ironong, my hair is straight like I want it (like a perm), but 10 minutes later, it poofed back out. How do I prevent this the next time I straighten?

Answer:
Try applying a straightening product when your hair is damp. Blow dry it with a round brush until you have it straight (this may give you some volume). Take a comb if it's short and section the hair with the comb then follow it with the flat irons. If it's longer you should pin it up and flatten it in sections. You may get some damage if you don't use some heat protecting products before you use the flat irons. You may also want to deep condition your hair about 1-2 times a week if your going to flat iron it regularly to keep it in good condition.
