In the Daniell Cell, what happens to the solid copper that is produced?

Does this solid copper build up on the copper electrode?
I did this experiment today and observed small flakes of copper in the copper sulfate soltion in which the electrode was placed. I don't know whether these flakes came off the electrode due to a build up of solid copper as a result of the reaction?
Has anyone observed this change before?
Answer:
You are correct; the copper that is produced generally will plate out on the copper
electrode, but sometimes it may flake off, especially if the copper forms rapidly or
unevenly. If that happens, which it can, you will observe little copper flakes in the
solution. It won't harm anything, and is to be expected sometimes, particularly if
the cell supplies a large amount of current and the reaction goes fast.
