Why is my idle core 3 41C EVEN stuck on to? (The rest go to idle 25-30)?
So, I installed a Xeon X3370 in my server and put a good amount of Arctic Silver 5 on it. I am in control of core temperature lately (idle and under load) and it turns found that cores 0, 1 and 2 are fine with fluctuating around 25-30C idle and about 40C under load. EXCEPT: Core 3 is 41C idle and under load higher ... I looked at the thermal paste and even in all parts of the CPU and heatsink. What could be wrong? Help me out! So the last scenario is: Cores 0, 1, 2, 25-30C idle with the exception of Core 3 41C-sticks, the idle. What makes it hold out?
Answer:
Obviously your core 3 is shouldering all the work load. Nothing is wrong. With multi-core processors, they do not all work alike.
